Run, Forrest, ruuuuunn!

Flickr's Lego artist, Udronotto , has just recently converted Hollywood A-lister Tom Hanks to a Lego form, in his Lego-ised frame from Forrest Gump.

For those of you who don't know, Forrest Gump is an exteremely famous 90s film, starring Tom Hanks as a man (Mr. Gump) who experiences nearly all of the famous [American] events of the late 20th century, whilst pursuing a sad romance with Jen-NEE. He goes to war in Vietnam, witnesses Watergate and even the Apollo 11 launch, to name a few. It's like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but better as the main character actually has a personality, and isn't Brad Pitt. It's really a brilliant film. Go watch.

Yeah, yeah, I know this isn't one of Udronotto's best (note the reverse shadows on the trees in the background: the trees are actually casting shadows of light (!?)), but I want you all to appreciate Forrest Gump as a film.

Like FedEx...

Nick Dean from MOCpages shows off his talent in this beauty of a creation, the Cargo Carrier. Reminiscent of the futuristic one in Stickman's 'Trucks' post a few months ago, I love the clever use of that large cockpit piece as... well, a cockpit, and If you take a gander at the MOCpages article here, you'll see some great detail on the underside of the project.

Hamster and Lego Elevator

Here's a delightful video suggested to me by David Boddy (I've given up with all your usernames etc, I'm sticking with your real name from now on). Though it may have very little to do with lego, I find what is fascinating about this video is the way it shows the hamster's learning curve, and how the hamster is first scared of the elevator, then intrigued, then excited and tries to access the tube or whatever it is. He even turns down an open door to his cage.

Now, I know this video's pretty rubbish in every other department (editing, titles, music etc), but the guy's got iMovie and that's what counts. Good on yer, son!

Scotland

Wow... I'm actually posting! Since those leprechauns were giving me a bit of a hard time I decided I'd take my revenge. So I searched for 'Scotland', expecting some flag or something. But what did I find? Oh, nothing. But I still got this random red house, which is apparently in Scotland.

We will rock you

This queen video isn't particularly well made, but it is pretty funny. You can tell it was made on movie maker too. There is a strange wall in the background, and it's very shaky, but oh well. Hope you enjoy it.

Trucks

Awesome setting for a bookworm

I thought that this was a very nice set up. It is a bookworm in the best place that any book worm would ever want to be in. What better place than a library???

Go Miniman Go! (Paganomation)

David Pagano was one of three famous Brickfilmers chosen by Lego to create films about the Lego minifigure, in time for the minifig's 30th birthday and also for the celebratory site gominimango.com.

Now, I think I'll review this Brickfilm.

Pagano is a truly talented Brickfilmer, and many know him as the creator of one of the original Brickfilms, 'Little Guys!', a mock-TV advert for square toy figures played with by large lego people. It was, and still is, one of the few Brickfilms to not be minifigure-orientated. It is because of this that I'm a bit wary of this video: Lego should not have asked a specifically non-minifig Brickfilmer to make a video celebrating the Minifig. I would have picked Zach Macias, or maybe Philip Heinrich. The film starts nicely, which is not really a very good sign, since 'nicely' is not a good word. The animation is a little stuttery, possibly 10fps, which is Ok for people like me, but for professionals like Pagano is a waste of a Brickfilm. After an interesting bit of brick-morphing, the main character - a weird leaping minifigure - is formed and starts leaping around various different lego themes. The film easily becomes boring, just like the music, and is not pleasing to the eye. The shots are unimaginative, and the film has the washed-out look of being made by someone who doesn't have enough time for colour correction. There is a brief space scene, which is edited poorly, and includes some dull After Effects movements and blurs, and does not do much to improve the film. The film ends slowly, as the main character's leaping making me want to throttle him or take off his legs. As he bounds through the finish line, I breathe a sigh of relief, and have to sit through Pagano's usual boring, music-less credits. Overall, the film was a disappointment, and I feel Pagano's endless talent was wasted on such a bad choice of film. Go back to non-minifig Brickfilms, Pagano!

Drawing hands

Post-Apocalyptic Robot

ARGH! If you thought that huge LEGO minifig in the last post was scary, check this dude out! I'm sure as hell he's based on something from a video game, but I'm not a video game mainiac, so I wouldn't know. This creation is really cool, but I don't know who made it, 'cos I just did a google image search for 'cool lego creations', in making the new banner for this blog. lol.

Mini Micro car thing!?!

Aw, isn't this just the CUTEST liddle car you've ever seen? It is for me! Many thanks to Smarth, for making me whimper like a little girl when seeing this pic, his creation. Brickshelf ID 59599.

London bendy bus

Ok, well here's a LEGO Bendy London Bus I found on the internet, with other cars and stuff. There's a whole theme of London-related stuff, like underground trains and landmarks. It's actually part of Legoland Windsor.

Spacecraft

I've been searching the net again. I found this very strange spacecraft, called the 'Spiffcraft'. Though dusty, dirty and built with that old manky-coloured grey bricks (and including that ugly minifig), I think this creation is actually pretty well designed. Well done to Xcalibur, whose Brickshelf ID is 242.

More Antony Lau

I've just searched AntonyLau's Brickshelf galleries and found loads more great stuff. I really recommend his stuff to you guys. Here's a micro-scale bus that I found. He also made a London bus, but, though blurry, I think this one is better. He lives in Japan so I think it's a Japanese bus.

TV crew truck

Here's one of my favourite creations, a simple TV truck with a trailer and a little crane-bit for the camera-man to sit on and get the best angle. Made by my new favourite Brickshelf user, Antony Lau. ID 118.

Mechy mech mech thang

Now, I'm not one for Exo-Force, but this mech is just rather cool. I like the way the legs are articulated, the bent-back bit nearer the bottom, emulating a pose like a velociraptor's. Made by KidThor-nice name, eigh?

Jumbo Genius

Ah, this guy's got talent. This is a jumbo-sized minifig walkie-talkie, probably 1:8 or 1:10 scale. There's loads more types of complicated bricks that this guy's made in jumbo, but I like this one the best.
