30 years of the minifigure

Apart from the utterly utterly utterly stupid super super widescreen, this video is icredible. It's sooo smooth, and the plot is great. I like the camera angles, the lighting and the set. What's not to like (Other than the stupid super super widescreen!!!). Another amazing video from Nathan Wells, one last comment though: I thought the brick was just 30 years old? Well, there's me prooved wrong then! Massive Mario

I have copied these pictures and posts off Keith Brogan's forum which you can visit by clicking here. Further information is at the bottom.

I scanned a Mario action figure using the excellent NextEngine scanner...


The resultant mesh in the scanning application...


Imported into modo as OBJ and scaled to the size of the model I wanted to build (75cm). I used the bend tool to bend his arms closer to his body so the Lego model would be structurally stronger...


In a new layer I created a large array of Lego sized cubes which were approximatley the shape of the Mario mesh...


Using Solid Drill>Stencil, I was able to select only the cubes which intersected the Mario mesh...


The building begins...


Completed Lego model in all its 75cm glory...

This 75cm Mario model was created by Keith Brogan, and you can visit his forum by clicking here. It's really good and looks really authentic and was made using a scanner, and a software called MODO to create a 3D net which he modelled his design on.

Macarena

I just put this lego macarena video on as I thought it was so bad, It made me laugh. The minifigure looks unrealistic, it is short, the moves are wrong and it basically looks a bit rubbish.

8ft tall lego man found on Brighton beach

Check out these pictures of the 8ft tall lego man who was washed up on Brichton beach. Some people think it was a puplicity stunt, but others believe that he floated from Legoland in Denmark! Legoland though released a statement saying they knew nothing about it. This story was reported in the daily mail on October 31st 2008. The pictures are off their website. The giant 8ft Lego man who washed up on the beach

At 8ft tall and wearing a garish green jersey he's not the sort of chap to get lost down the sofa.

In fact, you'd think he was unlikely to get lost at all. But someone (possibly someone big), somewhere is missing a key bit of their Lego set.

The colourful character mysteriously washed up on Brighton beach yesterday spawning dozens of tales - soon to become local legend - about where he may have come from.

While some believe he floated from Denmark-where there is a Legoland park), others suggest he toppled off a ship. Of course, there's always the cynical possibility he's part of a publicity stunt.

Resident Gerry Turner, 34, said: 'It's very odd. God knows how it got here but people are saying it's from Holland because it's got some Dutch writing on it.

'It must have fallen off a boat of something. The kids love it.' 

Children who helped stand the Lego man up on the beach were desperately curious about where it came from.

One said: 'It's great, but we don't know why it's here.'

A spokesman for Brighton and Hove City Council said town hall officials had no idea of the origin of the Lego man, but added that they saw no difficulty in letting it stay on the beach where it washed up.

He said: 'There's no problem at all. It will be interesting to see how long the Lego man stays there for. We'll keep an eye on it.'

But Lego was insistent: 'We're bemused. He has nothing to do with us.'

The Lego giant's arrival on the East Sussex shingle yesterday morning comes two years after an armada of plastic ducks landed on British shores.

Borne on the ocean currents, the ducks had made a 17,000-mile odyssey from the Pacific where they had been washed from a container ship in a 1992 storm.

Fight

This video by EElumir is brilliant. It's not normal lego, but oh well. I saw it and just had to put it on. The animation is incredible, and easily makes up for the lack of a story. She says it's 24fps, but it looks better quality than that. It is smooth and easy to watch, the camera angles are good and the background plain which draws all the more attention to the people, unlike some films with a really busy background. The music is also very good, and along with the sound effects makes it even better, and more realistic. I would really reccomend that you view the high quality version, which you can see by clicking here (it is 12mb so will take a little while to load).

Evolution

This model, entiteled Evolution was created by mijasper. It's really funny, and is definitely a great quality photo. I'm at the furthest right stage at the moment, trying to find something to better this!!! Awesome setting for a bookworm

I thought that this was a very nice set up. It is a bookworm in the best place that any book worm would ever want to be in. What better place than a library???

2 faced minifigure

There isn't any information about this creation, and all I know is was created by mijasper, who you can find by clicking here. It looks pretty cool, I don't know if it was made by computer or if it's an actual minifigure. Oh well, it just looks really good. It's a good quality image, and the colours look sharp and crisp. The shadow also gives a good effect.
