Brickspace 4.0 info

Hi guys, I was just talking to John the other day about 4.0 and what was happening when he and I realized neither of us had a clue, so we managed to clear things up and I just want to let you know what's happening. We are currently in Brickspace 4.0 (For more info click here) with star ratings, a modified logo, wider columns, several new graphical elements and a new search box. You might be excited by 4.0 but you haven't seen nothing yet! 4.1 is coming extremely soon (A month or so) with totally new features. I can't reveal too much but here's a hint- we've just got the help of a person we know who's a flash genius! Another whole new feature I want to promote is 'Get involved' and you can find more info by clicking here.

'Get Involved'

After months of an inactive 'Get involved' link on the sidebar, get involved is finally here...
At Brickspace, we try to be totally different from other unofficial LEGO blogs, so we thought it would be great to try and get our readers to get involved by letting them write on the blog. By our readers, for our readers! So, I got to work, thinking and pondering for hours on end to think of a great name. Then it struck me, 'GET INVOLVED'. You just need to send us your posts and the best ones will be posted on the site. Here's some more info:

All you need is to create your post then email it to this address:

Before you post, just remember a few things to help your post look great, stand out from the rest and possibly even be published on the main site:

• Make sure to include your name at the bottom.
• Don't forget to attach any pictures or video (You can also just include links if you want). 
• Please DO NOT swear or include any malicious content as your post will be deleted.
• Only the best posts will be featured on the blog, but don't forget, you can always become a proper staff member.
• Your e-mail subject is used as your title so make it interesting, short and eye catching.
• Please don't post your own creations.
  

All posts will be instantly published to http://bsinvolved.blogspot.com and the best ones will be put on the main site. Good luck!

Welcome Staff Members Doctor Sinister and Gorazd!

Hey there guys. It looks liek we have another TWO staff members that need announcing!

Firstly, I'd like to welcome Doctor Sinister onto Brickspace. Many of you will know him from his Flickr or MOCpages account, and we're incredibly proud to have him here. He's already made a post (I'm always very slow at posting these welcome messages, I never know when is the right moment. I'll try harder next time), and we all hope we'll see more like that from him in the future. The Doc is also standing to be the chairman of Brickish, the English LUG, so if you are a member, vote for Doctor Sinister!

Gorazd Vahen, or 'Kaitimar' on Flickr, is also joining us. Unfortunately we have been having a few problems with his account, but you should see him on here in the next few weeks!

So make these two new staff members at home, all you lot. And watch out for the 5th Jørgen comic, coming on here very VERY soon! 

Welcome Staff Member Teikjoon!

Wow, I can't believe I didn't notice our new staff member! I feel so embarrassed now. * blushes *

Viewers, meet Teikjoon. Teikjoon, meet viewers. I hope you all like Teikjoon's posts, and all the staff here at Brickspace wish him luck for his time here. So you should see a lot more of him from now on.

Welcome Staff Member Zack!

Wow, it's the second staff member I've had to introduce in a week - we're doing really well!!

So let's give a hearty Brickspace welcome to Zack, who many of you will know from his MOCpages account: we've featured many of his creations here at Brickspace, including the excellent Lime Miner a few weeks back.

Zack is the first staff member to come to the position of Expert, and I hope that more MOCers and Brickfilmers will consider joining us as well. So let's give Zack a round of applause and hope he enjoys it here at Brickspace. For those of you who want to know, Chris' staff page is now up an running, and you can access it by clicking the 'Our Staff' link to the right. Zack's page will be up later this week.

Welcome Staff Member Chris!

I'd like to welcome a new staff member today! It's the first time I've had to do this on Brickspace (Genesis, Luke and Tim all arrived when this site was Best of Brickshelf, and I've been here ever since the start of last year when I originally set up the blog as Best Lego...Ever!), so I'm really proud.

So let's give a big hello to Chris, the fifth ever Brickspace staff member! We hope he'll be at home here, and I'm sure he'll fit in perfectly. Sorry to those of you who saw his personal page on the staff page a few weeks ago: Chris' inclusion into Brickspace took longer than we thought. So I'll get him a new one soon, don't fear! Chris is the first staff member to be in one of our new staff positions, too: he's Brickspace's first Film Critic!

And I'd also like to welcome back Tim, or Stickman, to Brickspace. Long time no see, pal!

For 2009, I've been redesigning both the staff page and also the way that the satff page works. Now, instead of trawling through a long page of all our staff (yes, all three of us), you can easily click on our names to be taken to new staff pages, or click 'Contact' next to our names to be easily taken to your default mail software, and send us an email! Farewell to Genesis!

Well, unfortunately, it has come to the time when I will have to say goodbye to one of our staff members. A member since the very start of BrickSpace, and even when it was in its previous incarnation, Best of Brickshelf, Genesis has kept us all amused with her great descriptions and excellent finds. Sadly, she has to leave to concentrate more on school and the constitution - a big test they take in America. Her name will be moved to the 'previous staff members' section of the Staff Page, so we'll never forget she worked here. We wish Genesis luck in her tests and in whatever she chooses to do in the future, and now it's even more important than ever that we find a new staff member, or two, or three, and it doesn't take much to apply! Good Luck to Obama and McCain

Here at BrickSpace, we try to keep up with current affairs, and as you may know, the US Presidential Election is happening today, so we'd like to say good luck to the two Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain. This post may seem a bit silly when people know who's won, so it may be deleted after the fifth of November. Good luck, you two!

New post format

I have discovered the "Scheduled" feature, and now all my posts will be automatically released at midday (GMT) each day. I am now going to put the brickspace logo in the bottom right corner of every picture and I will display my picture next to my name. Hope you like the new format.

We have rebranded!

Hello everyone, and welcome to BrickSpace! Yes, those of you who are looking for Best of Brickshelf, don't fear! This is just the same, only with extra features, such as videos, interviews, tips and tricks, and news! Careful, there may be a few glitches, but I'll explain to you what's new:

• THE NAME: Because we take content from places other than Brickshelf, we had to rebrand.
• THE SIDEBAR: Our sidebar has been cleared up, with nice little links to our sources, and the labels of the posts so you can find what you like, when you like!
• THE INFO: Our blog, in preparation for getting its own domain name, is becoming more like a proper website now. The welcome message at the top of the sidebar now has a link to our welcome letter, which is the post before this. It will also have other links like staff profiles and 'contact us' pages.
• THE COLOUR: In order to get the visitors rolling in, we've added a new colour to our layout, so it looks friendlier. This is the yellow/gold colour, which looks like this.
