I've featured Flickr user SlyOwl on this blog a few times. And will good reason, but his recent creation just takes things over the top. In words he put it. Oonga-boonga-oonga-boonga-oonga-boonga-oo-oo!
I like Pirates stuff, but I don't build in the theme, so on that basis you could probably say that Pirates aren't really "my thing" - but I do like this little cove by Derfel Cadarn.
I especially like the brick effect on the pier - I know this is not a new method, but I do think it is particularly effective here.
The whole hustle and bustle of the scene with the rocks either side makes this an immediate fave'.
The pirates in this scene by SlyOwl are in a spot of bother - not only are their sails tattered and torn, their supplies overboard, but they are destined to end their days at the bottom of the ocean, spiralling down to the sea bed in a gigantic whirlpool... Lovely stuff.
BrickSpace coverage of the just ended contest over in the Space-Pirate Group on Flickr. A fantastic round-up of entries into this contest. This entry by 'Nickre on Flickr wonderfully uses a technique originally used by Michael Jasper in a new way and has fantastic use of rubber bands. This entry by 'Ricky features a great idea for a flame thrower and just holds you in with some sort of style. Most likely one of my favorite entries (other than my own of course) is the pirate designed by Tadashistate who executes pirate and space beautifully together. And now taking a short opportunity to blog myself I present my figure for the contest.
This creation, 'Le Quartier Brique', was created by '5p863 (aka capt. kirk)' [what a name!]. It's really detailed, and really interesting. Hope you like it! NB Make sure to check out the Brickspace Flickr account, to find more great creations like this or to upload your own.
I really like this pirate MOC, Coming ashore, by delucks. I like the way it's laid out, and the photo is a good angle. The attention to detail is great, and he's even got the smooth bricks on the side to finish it off.
